Day 13 Tuesday 22 April

Left Inverness and headed towards the Black Isle and Chanonry Point. Supposed to be a fantastic place to see bottlenose dolphins! Unfortunately for us, they were too shy today and weren’t visible! Still a pretty place - had to drive through a golf course to get there! Kept an eye out for stray golf balls!

Lighthouse at Chanonry Point

Beach where dolphins are supposed to frolic! Liars!

Turn off - thought we would find petrol here as we were running low! No dolphins and no petrol!

golf course on way in, everywhere coastal here has a golf course!

Can see Fort George from this side, across the Moray Firth

Underground house on edge of golf course

Found a petrol station in Dingwall, pretty little town

Bridge to cross to get to Dingwall. Beautiful canola fields!

Funny little knitted caps in Main Street in Dingwall

Street coming into Dingwall

More canola fields
Onto the Falls of Shin - where the salmon come spawning. Unfortunately they must have been frolicking with the bloody dolphins! None up at the falls but again a pretty area
Bonar Bridge on way to Falls of Shin

The Falls - note no spawning salmon!

Gary looking disheartened and saddened by the lack of salmon! πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯²

The Donarch Firth on way to Falls

Castle on hill, know absolutely nothing about it! (No Ed Sherran either!)
Passed through a few more towns on the NC500.
Where are staying at Thurso - needs to be seen to be believed! Not one of my greatest choices but the guy who runs it, James, is very helpful!

Dunbeath Castle - this is privately owned and not open to the public. Also from the 13th century. Was on the market last year for $32,000,000! Owner killed himself due to financial pressures, not sure if it sold?
