Day 13 Tuesday 22 April
Left Inverness and headed towards the Black Isle and Chanonry Point. Supposed to be a fantastic place to see bottlenose dolphins! Unfortunately for us, they were too shy today and weren’t visible! Still a pretty place - had to drive through a golf course to get there! Kept an eye out for stray golf balls!
Lighthouse at Chanonry PointUnderground house on edge of golf course
Found a petrol station in Dingwall, pretty little town
Bridge to cross to get to Dingwall. Beautiful canola fields!Onto the Falls of Shin - where the salmon come spawning. Unfortunately they must have been frolicking with the bloody dolphins! None up at the falls but again a pretty area
Bonar Bridge on way to Falls of ShinPassed through a few more towns on the NC500.
Where are staying at Thurso - needs to be seen to be believed! Not one of my greatest choices but the guy who runs it, James, is very helpful!Dunbeath Castle - this is privately owned and not open to the public. Also from the 13th century. Was on the market last year for $32,000,000! Owner killed himself due to financial pressures, not sure if it sold?
Dunrobin Castle at Golspie, the most northerly of Scotlands great houses and the largest in the Northern Highlands. Dates back to the early 1300’s
Beach at Thurso
Croft ruins in fields on way to Thurso. The fields are just full of these old croft ruins, quite sad really.
