Day 42 Wednesday May 21

Well hard to believe that this time next week we are on our way home! Up early this morning to walk around Bradley Both to explore the village before we headed off. When I say village it has lots of houses, a school, a town hall, a pub and a general store and not much else! There was a memorial to these Polish soldiers who had crashed in 1943, close by. So sad, the wing just fell off the plane! What a waste of young lives. It is so nice that they remember them!

Cruising up to Silsden and then on to Riddleson. Lots of swing bridges to get through but Maureen, Kath, Gary and I walked the towpath for a lot of it and then Bob took over. Water levels are low and we got stuck a couple of times but Gary and Graeme are doing a great job of operating the barges! Not easy but actually quite enjoyable.

Wandered off to the Marquis of Granby pub, lovely place and so interested in talking to us Australians! Gary, Maureen and I tried to find the town centre, no luck! However Bob found a United Services Club so we all met up there for a drink, except Graeme who stayed behind for a snooze. He ended up going to the Marquis whilst we were at United! Good time had by all!

Off to Bingsley tomorrow!

Still not having much luck with photos but when we get to London, will update blog with photos! Baited breath!

  1. You seem to be enjoying the quiet life, sounds very relaxing, having a walk along the tow path, drinks in the local pub, getting to know all the local identities; almost like you could make yourself at home there?? Hope you remember to get on the plane to come home!!!
