Day 6 Tuesday 15th April
In Edinburgh until Friday now.
Where we’re staying whilst in EdinburghGary and I caught the bus into town, landlord gave us all the info on how to get there and that the trip should take about 40 mins, depending on traffic. Double decker bus, sat up top to see the views on way in but so cold and wet, the windows were all steamed up! Nearly an hour later thought we’d ask the driver if we were near Old Town? With a laugh and incredulous look at us, he said that was ages ago! Needless to say we jumped off the bus to catch one back - turned out to be the same driver who at least only charged us for one fare!
Found Old Town and the Royal Mile - so interesting! Edinburgh Catle looked amazing! Didn’t go in as fully booked but might try for Thursday! Lots of photos to follow!
Can’t remember what this was but very impressive! The Writers Museum
One of the alleyways off the Royal Mile. There are stacks of these. In York they were called snickleways!

Went to the National Gallery, just amazing paintings! The one below is of St Nicholas who became Santa Claus.
A bagpipe playing Scotsman!
Statue of Hume - not sure who he was but the toe I am holding shines gold from where everyone (me included) has rubbed it!
Another alley
You'll be pleased to know it's hardly stopped raining here since you left, I imagine it's not quite as cold here as it is in Bonnie Scotland? Good to see you're not letting the weather deter your travels, keep up the good work - come rain, hail or snow!!!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so cold here! Luckily hadn’t had too much rain but we still go and see things!
DeleteLoved Scotland soooo much….would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks again Trish for thinking about us on Saturday. Loving your story telling & photos xxxx
