Day 27 Tuesday May 6

Up early today and went for a walk down through Y Felinheli. It is such a beautiful place, so pretty.

Not a ripple this morning!

Main Street of Y Felinheli

The foreshore

Then off to catch the Snowden Railway up to the top of Mount Snowden. Built in 1896, thankfully they’d bought new carriages since then! What an experience. One hour up with some jaw dropping views! Luckily I was on the side that didn’t have sheer drops on it!

In the carriage

The carriage going down, passing us going up!

View of tracks behind us

The mountains are enormous!

The valley is beautiful

As are the mountains

Had about 30 mins look around at the summit and then started the trek down. What a great experience, we were lucky and managed to do most of the walk on our own! So quiet and beautiful! 2 hours and 8 kms later we were at the bottom, back in Llanberis. We loved every moment of it!

Train coming down, Gary off to the side

Views from the summit, it was stunning! That’s the Irish Sea

That’s Mount Snowden, the little point in the middle of the photo, it is just behind the mountain at the front

Back to the apartment, weary but very happy! Made ourselves walk down to the town to have dinner at the  Garddfon Pub and Bistro for dinner. It’s right on the water and food was delicious! Early to bed tonight!
Pie, chips, gravy and peas for me!

Fish of the day for Gary, we thought it was a slice of whale it was so bloody big!

The pub!

Happy birthday Maureen Ryan!

  1. What amazing views, excellent day spent on the mountain and it certainly looks like you were the only ones there, so good to avoid the crowds if you can. I can imagine you’ll print up a couple of hundred photos to hang on the wall when you get home??!!
